Our program on Driving Safety: The Basics provides the information employees need to drive cars, vans and small trucks safely, both on and off the job. We do so much driving that it's easy to forget how dangerous it can be. Every year road accidents claim more than two million lives worldwide, and cause tens of millions serious injuries. Fortunately, most accidents can be prevented when drivers think ahead and are proactive, doing things to avoid dangerous situations on the road. And the good news is, people can start being safe drivers even before the key goes in the ignition. With the right skills, a well-maintained vehicle and the right attitude towards driving, employees can make the roads a safer place for everyone. Areas included in the program include information on preparing to drive safely, the fundamentals of safe driving, driving safely when sharing the road with different types of vehicles, staying safe when driving at night and in inclement weather, road rage and distracted driving, what to do if there's an emergency and more.

This course presents fundamental information for employees about the principles behind safe driving, and techniques that can be used to avoid trouble on the road. Upon completing the course, employees should:
- Know what they can do to prepare themselves and their vehicle to drive safely.
- Understand the hazards that are commonly encountered on the road.
- Know specific techniques for driving safely under different road and weather conditions.
